Benfital Plus 3kg. New formula! Benfital Plus powder can be used with water, milk and milk substitute. Benfital's fibres bind harmful bacteria and carry them away with the faeces. Benfital's salts and glucose compensate for deficiencies caused by diarrhoea and prevent dehydration of the calf. Calves do not have large energy reserves, so even a short fasting period will seriously starve them.

Starvation impairs the body's immune system, resulting in a long-term reduction in feed intake.
Recent studies have shown that fasting does not speed up the recovery from diarrhoea. It is recommended that diarrhoeal calves continue to be watered to avoid starvation and minimise growth retardation. Diarrhoea calves lose fluid and salts in their loose stools. In addition, acidic metabolites (acidosis) begin to accumulate in the body. To prevent these problems, it is recommended to administer electrolytes, alkaline supplements and water. Most electrolyte drinks are not recommended to be given at the same time as milk or milk substitute because they are rich in bicarbonate of soda. Bicarbonate prevents the milk from curdling in the rennet, which may aggravate diarrhoea.

The new Benfital Plus powder is formulated so that it can be used without interrupting the milk or milk substitute. In Benfital Plus powder, part of the bicarbonate has been replaced by organic acids, which are converted into bicarbonate only after absorption from the digestive system into the body. Benfital Plus contains water-repellent treated pectin fibres and inactivated yeast cells that carry diarrhoea-causing bacteria away from the intestine. The water-repellent pectin fibres do not absorb water, so they do not dehydrate the diarrhoeic calf. The water-repellent treatment is a patented process that has only been used in Benfital Plus. Benfital Plus contains a high energy content. A daily ration (200-300 g) is sufficient to meet about 30% of the calf's daily maintenance energy requirements. This means that a calf on Benfital will not go hungry even if its appetite has deteriorated so that it refuses to drink its normal ration.

Use:
When the first symptoms of diarrhoea appear, mix 100 g of Benfital Plus powder with 2 litres of water at room temperature and drink it to the calf 2-3 times a day.

In between drinks of Benfital, you can offer milk or milk substitute. Keep clean water available for the calf at all times. In most cases, the diarrhoea symptoms will resolve within 24 hours. However, if diarrhoea persists, continue to give Benfital Plus 2-3 times over the next 24 hours. If the calf does not improve within 2 days or if the calf stops drinking, contact your vet.

For larger calves (over 50kg), 150g of Benfital Plus powder per feeding is recommended. Benfital Plus can also be given with milk or milk substitute.
