Beris Autopilot Butterfly. Butterfly Bit is an absolute innovation in regard of mouthpieces. The anatomically correct form in combination with a broader surface in the tongue area offers this sensitive muscle the optimal amount of room space with a very soft influence at the same time. Horses show their wellbeing with more chewing activity and an increased acceptance of the bit. If a stronger effect of the horse‘s mouth is necessary a leverage acting cheek may be helpful. The mouthpiece is available in a Soft and Hard version.

Beris mouthpieces are made of a food safe plastic compound with a surface refinement unequalled so far in the range of plastic bits. The surface is very smooth and they slide easily in the mouth, even if the horse doesn´t salivate that much. The “eraser like effect” known of rubber bits will not occur with our mouthpieces! Horses accept them very well and will often be encouraged to chew and salivate more. The mouthpieces should be rinsed with clean water after every use.

Mouthpiece options:

- SOFT, mouthpiece thickness 20mm, it is thinner on the middle 12mm
- HARD, mouthpiece thickness 20mm, it is thinner on the middle 12mm

CHEEKPIECE - Autopilot - We developed an absolutely new cheek that positions itself automatically in the horse’s mouth in a way that it applies only the lowest pressure to jaw and tongue. Anatomy of the mouth varies, as well as the preferences to the position of the mouthpiece. Now the horse can choose the most comfortable position of the mouthpiece on ist own. Putting pressure on the rein means to increase pressure on tongue and jaw, but the mouthpiece rests stabil in the position the horse likes. The Beris Autopilot will be delivered with either ny on strap or curb hooks upon request. Furthermore using additionally a chinstrip or a curb chain reduces the pressure on the poll substantially.

Due to the Material
Mouthpieces made of a plastic compound or leather are contrary to those made of metal significantly softer and weigh a lot less. This is what most horses love about these bits. But the horses´ teeth are considerably harder than any plastic compound or leather and can shorten the lifespan of a mouthpiece made of these materials. If the bit is correctly placed in the dental free area between the Incisors and Molars (Diastema), a damage done to the mouthpiece is quite unlikely, but caused by sharp edged-teeth not impossible. For these reasons we cannot offer any warranty for damages due to bite marks or incorrect placement of the bit.

Correct position
The bit is correctly positioned with engraving visible on the left side of the horse´s mouth. Beris brand name is stamped on the left hand side of the cheekpiece.

The protection of the horse‘s sensitive mouth is most important to us, which shows in the use of the chosen materials. From bit ring to curb, all metal parts are formed by hand, welded and polished to perfection. To guarantee the safety of the bits for horse and rider, they go through vigorous tenacity testings. The newly developed form of our mouthpieces provides a better acceptance of the bit and alleviates the communication between horse and rider.
