CHEEKPIECE - Medium Ring Gag is stronger than the usual Loose Ring and Eggbutt as the ropes going through the rings create leverage which will exert more pressure through the mouthpiece whilst at the same time introducing more poll pressure.
To be correctly used, it must be used with two reins one on the gag and one on the bit, only bringing the gag rein into play when needed, although most people ride on the gag rein only. When pressure is applied to the rein, the bit is lifted in the mouth and poll pressure is applied. Often used on strong horses that like to escape the action of the bit in the mouth and get very strong. The cheekpiece is available in 2 sizes, standard (Ø78mm) and a slightly smaller model for a pony (Ø66mm). Supplied with gag ropes.
