Charles Owen Riding Helmet Ayr8 Plus Leather Look. A high-quality, safe and stylish riding helmet with a Leather Look finish. The Ayr8 Plus is one of Charles Owen’s most popular helmet models.
- The centre section features 12 ventilation channels running from front to back, providing good airflow and excellent comfort.
- The outer shell is made from stylish and easy-care synthetic leather.
- Features an antibacterial (silver-thread) removable and washable liner, which can also be completely replaced when needed.
- Beneath the exceptionally strong outer shell is a unique safety liner made from high-quality polystyrene containing microscopic air bubbles.
- In the event of an impact, the air bubbles collapse, helping absorb impact energy and reduce the risk of injury to the head.
- The safety liner is designed to help slow the movement caused by an impact, including the so-called counter-impact movement that can contribute to brain injuries.
- The soft, synthetic-leather six-point patented GRpx® harness features padded neck supports that adapt to the neck for a secure and comfortable fit.
- Features a durable plastic quick-release buckle that is easy and quick to fasten and open.
- Charles Owen helmets are made in England.
- The helmet meets three safety standards: Kitemarked to PAS015:2011, Kitemarked and CE marked to VG1 01.040 2014-12, and certified by SEI to ASTM F1163:2015.

Choosing the right size:
Measure the circumference of your head with a soft measuring tape at the widest point. For example, helmet size 55 corresponds to a head circumference of 55 cm. The helmet liner compresses slightly with use, so the helmet should feel as snug as possible when new. The best fit can be found by trying on different helmet models and sizes in-store with the guidance of a knowledgeable sales professional. Please also see our video guide on choosing the correct helmet size, how to position the helmet correctly and other important factors to consider when choosing a riding helmet.
For safety reasons, a damaged helmet should always be replaced with a new one, as a damaged helmet may no longer provide optimal protection. Damage to the helmet’s safety liner cannot necessarily be detected from either the inside or outside. Even an undamaged helmet has a recommended service life of approximately five years. A properly fitted, high-quality riding helmet can provide vital protection in the event of an accident.
