A Natural Solution to the Fly Problem in Animal Facilities
Keep flies under control – without chemicals
Predatory flies are an effective and completely biological way to control stable flies in pig farms and cattle barns. The method works in nature's own way: the larvae of predatory flies feed on stable fly larvae before they have a chance to develop into adults.
- 100% natural
- Safe for animals and humans
- No chemical pesticides
- Easy and effortless to use
In Europe, predatory flies are one of the most common fly control methods, and in Finland they have been used successfully for over 30 years.
How predatory flies control flies
The predatory fly is a small, light-shy, and harmless fly species that thrives in the slurry pits of cattle barns and pig farms. It does not disturb humans or animals.
When the predatory fly lays its eggs, its larvae feed on stable fly larvae. This keeps the fly population under control before the flies have a chance to hatch.
The result is natural and continuous control without chemicals.
Fewer flies – a healthier animal facility
Excessive numbers of flies cause many problems:
- Stress and restlessness in animals
- Discomfort for workers
- Risk of disease spread
Predatory flies effectively reduce fly reproduction and help keep the animal facility healthier, calmer, and more pleasant.
Use is really easy
Getting started with predatory flies takes only a few minutes.
1. Automatic deliveries
Predatory fly shipments are delivered to the farm according to an agreed schedule.
2. Bring the bags to the animal facility
One bag is sufficient for approximately 100 m² of floor area.
3. Hang the bags
Cut open the corner of the bag and hang it near the grating at regular intervals.
4. The predatory flies do the work
The predatory flies develop inside the bags and move under the grating to control the flies.
After that, the predatory flies take care of the work for you.
Note! Do not use chemical pesticides in the same space or section as the predatory flies.
Start control in good time
For best results, the use of predatory flies should begin early in the year (weeks 6–18) before the stable fly breeding season.
Deliveries are generally made 7–9 times per year depending on the size of the facility.
One bag contains up to 12,000 predatory flies at various stages of development.
A safe and scientifically proven method
Predatory fly cultivation is thoroughly researched and regulated. The method poses no risks to humans, animals, or the environment.
Thanks to the use of predatory flies, chemical pesticides are no longer needed.
For bedding-based animal facilities, parasitic wasps are alternatively recommended, which work on the same biological principle.
